As a constituent in your riding and a <Medical Laboratory Technologist/insert role> in your community, I would like to take the opportunity to share with you the vital role that Medical Laboratory Professionals play in medically diagnosing and treating patients living in your constituency and across Alberta.
Health care professionals rely on timely and accurate laboratory test results to properly diagnose and treat illnesses, as well as monitor the ongoing health of patients. Without our accurate, fast, and specialized services, patients are unable to receive proper care in an expedient manner.
Our profession has major concerns regarding the recent announcement by the government to not proceed with the construction of a new comprehensive hub laboratory facility in Edmonton, and the impact this decision will have on patient care across the province.
There are real concerns about whether the existing laboratory environment and facilities will be able to meet patient needs, and the impacts that this may have on our communities and patients.
