The process to evaluate education and clinical work experience for internationally educated medical laboratory technologists (IEMLTS) seeking Canadian certification is about to change. The province you wish to be licensed in will determine whether or not this change affects you.
Starting June 1, if you are a current PLA client with CSMLS and may be affected by this change, we will reach out to you individually to support you through the transition as we begin to transfer your files.

All Prior Learning Assessment services will transition to the Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators (CAMLPR) on October 31, 2025. If you start the PLA process before May 31, 2025, you will begin with CSMLS. Please be aware of the following application deadlines:
We anticipate this will be enough time to complete these PLA Stages with CSMLS for many PLA Clients. Should you not be able to complete the process by October 31, 2025 the CSMLS office will transfer your file to CAMLPR. If you plan to start the PLA process after May 31, 2025, you will begin using the CAMLPR process. Information on their new service can be found at www.camlpr.org.
