Founders’ Fund MLT
Assist members with the continuing of their professional development
Who can apply: Certified MLTs in good standing
Grant: Up to $500
Founders’ Fund MLA
Assist members with the continuing of their professional development
Who can apply: Certified MLAs in good standing
Grant: Up to $500
E.V. Booth Award
Provides financial support to members who are pursuing a university degree
Who can apply: Certified MLTs in good standing
Grant: Up to $1000
A.R. Shearer Pride of the Profession Award
Recognizes laboratory professionals who demonstrate professional pride through their leadership and commitment to excellence in the practice of medical laboratory science
Who can apply: Current member in good standing can nominate a certified MLT or MLA in good standing
Award: Engraved award presented at workplace
World Medical Laboratory Development Fund
Provide CSMLS member support for them to assist in the development of international medical laboratory services
Who can apply: Member in good standing
Award: Up to $1000 to;
- assist in the development of medical laboratory services
- assist in the development of medical laboratory professional societies
- assist in education related to medical laboratory science
- identify and provide resources for medical laboratory training programs
- promote the exchange of ideas at the international level
- provide awareness of our society to other countries
Gaman J. Modi Award of Excellence
Recognize and celebrate laboratory health care personnel who consistently demonstrate the 3Cs: commitment, competence and compassion.
Who can apply:Certified members in good standing for a minimum of 10 years can self nominate or nominate any health care professionals within the laboratory team.
Award:$450 scholarship & engraved award presented at workplace
BD Young Leaders Scholarship
Established in partnership with Becton Dickenson Canada to assist members, early in their career (employed 2-5 years as a MLP) with costs related to continuing of their professional development
Who can apply: Certified MLPs (MLA/MLT) in good standing
Grant: $2,000
BD Student Scholarships
Established in partnership with Becton Dickinson Canada, to assist students in their final year of a Canadian MLA or MLT program.
Who can apply: Current student members enrolled in their final year of a Canadian training program in:
- General Medical Laboratory Technology
- Diagnostic Cytology
- Clinical Genetics
- Medical Laboratory Assistants
Award: 2 X $1,000 scholarships available
Leaders of Tomorrow LABCON Grant
This grant allows students, new graduates and MLAs a chance to attend LABCON
Who can apply: Member in good standing:

Grant: Registration, travel & accommodation to LABCON
David Ball Award
Recognize members who have made notable contributions to their community
Who can apply: A member in good standing can nominate a certified MLT or MLA in good standing
Award: Special memento presented in recipient’s community
Founders Fund – International
Provides members with financial help to attend or present at an international conference, such as IFBLS.
Who can apply: Member in good standing
Award: Up to $3,000 for travel, registration and accommodation

Honorary Awards
For a member or non-member in recognition of outstanding service to the CSMLS
Who can apply: A member in good standing can nominate a non-member of the CSMLS who is involved in the health care field

Honorary Fellowship Award
For outstanding contribution to the CSMLS
Who can apply: Member in good standing can nominate a certified member

Distinguished Fellowship Award
It is the highest level of recognition bestowed to a member, it is granted to members who have made significant contributions to the profession
Who can apply: A member in good standing can nominate a certified member in good standing who has been a member for a minimum of 10 years, who must be certified at FCSMLS or ART level, or hold a university degree

Roche Canada Student Scholarship
Established in partnership with Roche Canada, to assist students in their final year of a Canadian MLA or MLT program.
