Next Step: Preparing for PLA
Competency Assessment for Expanded PLI Coverage
The CSMLS offers a PLA service for practicing MLTs who wish to have their Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) expanded for grossing and molecular techniques competencies that may be outside of their original certification.
The national CSMLS Diagnostic Cytology Competency Profile© and the national CSMLS General MLT Competency Profile© were expanded in 2017 and 2019, respectively, to include grossing and molecular techniques competencies.
If you think you require expansion of your PLI for entry-level grossing and molecular techniques that were not covered on your original certification (pre-2017 for Diagnostic Cytology MLTs and pre-2019 for General MLTs), please refer to the applicable guidance documents.
