The Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists’ Assistants (CCCPA-CCCAP) would like to remind all practicing Pathologists’ Assistants that would like to apply for certification via the CCCPA-CCCAP to do so before their application deadlines are upon us! Some deadlines for application expire on December 31, 2018, including On the Job-Trained MLTs with 2 years of Canadian PA experience. This application deadline is the deadline to apply for certification, and the applicant must successfully write the exam within 2 years of receiving notification that they are qualified to write the exam. Each applicant has 3 attempts at a successful writing of the exam. The steps for application are the following:

The certification fee is $550.00 and includes all certification fees, including the exam fee.The exam will be available at each institution that offers a qualified Pathologists’ Assistants Master’s Program following the graduation date of the PA Master’s students. It will also be available (with limited seatings) at:
- The Ontario Association of Pathologists’ Annual Meeting
- The Annual Residents’ Review Course
- The Canadian Association of Pathologists’ Pathologists’ Assistant Section Annual Meeting
- The Annual BANFF Pathology Conference
- The exam will also be made available at the Events Management (EM) office in Kingston, Ontario for a date that is agreed upon by the applicant and EM.
All PA Section members that became members following the 2014 AGM must re-submit their application to the CCCPA-CCCAP to obtain certification. Those Members that passed the exam are not required to re-write the exam.
The CCCPA-CCCAP is exploring avenues to be able to offer the exam online. Once these details are finalized they will be made available on the CCCPA-CCCAP website at: http://cap-acp.org/CCCPA.php
